ABOUT THE PROJECT
Name: Skull and Bones
Client: Ubisoft
THE CHALLENGES
– Adjustment in Production Methods: The game is relatively old and originally utilized traditional hand-painted techniques. The current production workflow has shifted to using Blender, but the visual style must remain consistent with the previous approach without significant deviations.
– Game’s Core Selling Point: The game primarily generates revenue through the sale of ship skins, resulting in a wide variety of ever-changing design themes. This places high demands on the artist’s knowledge base and foundational painting skills.
THE SOLUTIONS
– We have accumulated a large collection of previously published concept art. By extensively studying and replicating these works outside of work hours, we aim to maintain stylistic consistency across different themes.
– We have strengthened online communication with the client to share experiential knowledge, enabling the team to get up to speed quickly. Additionally, we are delving into extensive historical documents to build a robust knowledge base for future designs.
