Reigniting the Creative Spark: Inside TOTOP Creatives’ 6-Day Chengdu Hackathon
Breaking the Mold: A New Kind of Workshop
Traditional training models often focus purely on software upgrades and efficiency. For this event, we wanted to flip the script. We created a dedicated space for our creative leaders to step away from the day-to-day grind and reconnect with their creative “why.”
The experience was a fresh departure from standard industry training. Moving away from familiar methodologies, our team was immersed in a highly collaborative, dynamic environment that challenged their usual routines.

Balancing Artistic Freedom with Client Reality
Balancing Artistic Freedom with Client Reality
As many of our leads noted, the training methods introduced were completely different from what they were accustomed to. However, the true success of the week came from how the team embraced the unknown. They took the time to adapt, stretching their creative muscles and learning how to thrive within a new paradigm.
The core challenge of the hackathon was mastering a crucial skill in external development: finding the perfect balance between thinking outside the box and working within the structured boundaries of real-world client scenarios. It was an exercise in pushing creative limits while maintaining the disciplined execution required to meet strict project guidelines.
Guided by Industry Expertise
A massive part of this initiative’s success goes to our incredible instructor, Shiew Yeu Loh. Her expert guidance was instrumental in helping the TOTOP team navigate this unconventional approach. She provided the insights needed for our artists to find that delicate harmony between unbridled artistic freedom and focused, client-centric delivery.

We firmly believe that growth is an ongoing journey. By giving our team the space to rediscover their passion and adapt to fresh perspectives, we don’t just become better artists—we become stronger, more innovative partners for our clients.
Our team has returned from Chengdu feeling inspired, recharged, and ready for what’s next.
